I am a progressive filmmaker who loves to make films on real issues of society. Women’s issue-based films are my forte. Most of my films focus on women’s empowerment and are based on true stories about women. My company, UCC, has produced seven Bengali serials, numerous corporate advertisements, and three Hindi music albums featuring Rabindranath Tagore’s works. These albums starred notable actors such as Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna, and Soumitra Chatterjee.
Ujjwal Chatterjee is an esteemed National Award-winning filmmaker. After having made numerous films on real-life issues, such as “Escape from Taliban” (2003), “Uthaan” (2006), and “Search” (based on the WTC Attack in 2010) in English and Hindi, as well as the bilingual film “Swabhoomi” (2014), he has also forayed into Bengali cinema with remarkable movies such as “Gondi” (selected for the Indian Panorama in 1996), “Kaalratri” (selected for the Indian Panorama in 1998), and “Bhumika” (2000).
Ujjwal Chatterjee has now taken up another challenge to portray the story of young under-14 tribal kids who went on to win the Rugby World Cup Championship in 2007 in London. He is known to maintain a perfect balance between realistic cinema and mainstream entertainment, and this project is being produced by the Children’s Film Society of India.
